Hello!

I just got a 2x40 char LCD Display (Model DMC402 with Bezel Uses the standard controller HD44780)

I just wonder if I have to make any changes in your "new soldering guides for 20x2 and 20x4 LC displays" to make ite work, or if I just can and solder away as the guide tells me (great how-to by the way)

This is what the manual for the Display tells me (if you need more info, just tell me):

Pin Number Symbol
1 Vss
2 Vcc
3 Vee
4 RS
5 R/W
6 E
7 DB0
8 DB1
9 DB2
10 DB3
11 DB4
12 DB5
13 DB6
14 DB7

Pin Descriptions:

DB4 ~ DB7 Input/Output MPU 4 lines of high order data bus. Bi-directional transfer of data
between MPU and module is done through these lines. Also
DB7 can be used as a busy flag. These lines are used as data in
4 bit operation.

DB0 ~ DB3 Input/Output MPU 4 lines of low order data bus. Bi-directional transfer of data
between MPU and module is done through these lines. In 4 bit
operation, these are not used and should be grounded.

E Input MPU Enable - Operation start signal for data read/write.

R/W Input MPU Signal to select Read or Write
“0”: Write
“1”: Read

RS Input MPU Register Select
“0”: Instruction register (Write)
: Busy flag; Address counter (Read)
“1”: Data register (Write, Read)

Vee Power
Supply
Terminal for LCD drive power source.

Vcc Power
Supply
+5V

Vss Power
Supply
0V (GND)

E1 Input MPU Enable 1 - Operation start signal for data Read/Write of upper 2 lines. Applicable to DMC 40457 series only. [not mine!]

E2 Input MPU Enable 2 - Operation start signal for data Read/Write of lower 2 lines. Applicable to DMC 40457 series only. [not mine!]

Yes, this looks great (except that you've no backlight) and the description of the second "E" signal is only available with some ! 40x4 or 40x2 displays, so don't care about it.
