I have a MSI K7T266 Pro2-A motherboard which only has a max voltage of 1.7 which totally sucks. I want to overclock to 2.2GHz(163FSB) but I need more voltage that 1.7. I can get into windows with 2.1GHz(162FSB).

What voltage do you pros recomend for my 2200+???

I would really apreciate what you guys think and caould you explaine the easiest mod to do.

Welcome in our forum :)
If your CPU temperature isn't very high I don't see any problems increasing the Vcore up to 1.85 Volt or more.
But increase it in little steps to see how high your Vcore have to be to get a stable processor, because higher voltages will give you also higher temperatures.
BTW. the Pin-mod should work fine with your processor ;)

My current temp at a stable 2.17GHz(160FSB) is ~38C idle and ~42C Load.

Is that ok teamp at 1.7 volts?

And what pin-mod layout do I use, barton?... because you dont have a layout for thorton core?

And what volatge do you think I should try first???
Cuz I'm thinking of trying 1.8 volts first but I dont know maybe a bit more?

And I was thinking of doing a mobile mod to it to make it into a mobile.
What are the benfeits of making it a mobile besides changing the multiplier in windows, will I get better temps from a mobile?

Holy moly!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did the Barton 1.8 volt pin-mod and it worked great but when I went into bios I noticed that now I have the option to make my cpu voltage 1.75, 1.8, 1.825, and 1.85. Just by doint the one 1.8 mod.

WOW!!!!!!!!

I'm so freaking happy.

hmm wonder if I do the 1.85 mod will 1.9 volts apear??? lol

i would try it when the temperature is OK but with the KT266A chipset you are on the limit with fsb and the pci and agp clock. better you buy another board because the agp and pci clock is too high for your hard drives and your graphics card.
failures maybe not come from cpu or RAM when you set agp and pci clocks so high!

don't be so frightened, it is correct that the AGP and PCI Bus will be raised together with the FSB, an at FSB 160 there are just 40MHz PCI and 80MHz AGP
could be to high for some Cards, or Hard Disk Controller
but if it works?
I raised the FSB on my KT266 to 177 an all still work fine
