mal nen zitat aus dem xpand-forum:
A played the simgle-player XPand demo a couple of times now, and today I bought RBR and wrestled myself through Rally School. After the rally school I drove a few single stages to test my driving skills. Here's my personal opinion about the comparison between XPand and RBR after these first impressions: - graphics: RBR looks nice and the scenery looks quite realistic. XPand looks much better though, with more eyecandy and more detailed and realistic (lighting) effects. The cars in XPand are MUCH better. The RBR cars look nice and the damage model is great, but there is very little interaction between the car and the environment. The cars gets dirtier, but light and shadow effects are absent. The lack of all the eye candy does mean that the frame rates are fantastic on my system at 1280x1024x32, which helps the sense of speed and controlling the car enormously. In terms of numbers on a 1-10 scale, I'd say XPand is 9.5 and RBR is 7. - sound: Xpand sound I think is very nice, although I do miss the real EAX experience in the Arizona canyons (sound reflections, echos and the like). RBR sound is powerful but some of the effects like the popping of the exhaust and stones and gravel hitting the car sound a bit weird on my system, a bit too much echo. I haven't experienced any real EAX sound outside the car (during replay) yet, either. I'd say both games score a 7. - handling: XPand still feels a little weird when using an FF wheel, not a real feeling of what the car does. RBR is awesome. Finally a game in which the car actually has mass, inertia, and grip (or a lack of it ). Getting to grips with the car is a real challenge, but it feels natural, responsive and consistent. The physics of collisions, driving through borders and on different surfaces is excellent. Force feedback seems a bit weak, but that could be just how I set it up in the game. In my opinion, RBR sets the standard by a couple of miles. XPand: 7, RBR 9.5.
