hm, PC2100? if it don't run with FSB Speed this could cause big Performance Problems, have you tried to raise the timings into slower regions to help your RAM to reach higher speeds? maybe 2,5-3-3-8 or even slower, 3-4-4-11 could help if you have luck to run PC2100 RAM with 200MHz and there is even the possibility to raise VDIMM for your RAM, for the first time try 2,7V, this would be safe enough an will help a bit but its very importent to run RAM with the speed of FSB |

ooooh, I see now, thanks for clearing that up, I wasnt thinking about the year. I was hoping to do some overclocking via the multiplier because I only have PC2100 ram. And I can only get my fsb to 215 before my system locks up. I might can turn my ram speed way down because I think that is causing my system to freeze at 215. Thanks for all your help. |

37th week of 2003 will be unlocked, but after 43th week of 2003 all CPUs are superlocked, so your CPU from 37th week 2004 is superlocked and a mb with nf2 chipset is good for overclocking, just raise the FSB |

0437, isn't that 37th week and not locked? Can you make a recommendation for a good overclocking socket A board? |

yes, it does, first your CPU is superlocked because its manufactured after 40th week in 2003, and with an NF2 MB, it is not possible to chance multiplier via multi mod your only opinion is to raise the FSB |

Also, let me add that I doing all of this on an nForce 2 mobo. Do you think that could be giving me trouble? |

My stepping is 0437 so looks like it is pre 40th week and probably not super locked. Any suggestions on what to try next? Thanks for your help with this... |

if it is possbile without modification to chance the multipier in the BIOS or with pinmod, your CPU si unlocked, if this is not possible, you CPU mis superlocked or even look at the date when it was build looks like AQZEA 0334 TPMW means 34th week in 2003 if it is buid before 40th week in 2003 it is not superlocked, after 43th week most CPUs are superlocked |

Yeah it might be the Mobo thats causing a problem. I have the chaintech 7nJl6. Is there a way to tell if I do have a super locked barton? |

If the CPU is superlocked, no pinmod will help you to chance the multiplier because you close the L5 bridges (closing only the 3rd would be enough) I gues you CPU is superlocked? so if you dont use a motherboard with nf2 chipset, it is possible to chance the multiplier in windows via a program, for example with CPU-MSR but remember, you will be only able to lower the multiplier, if you dont modified other bridges the startup multiplier after the mobile mod will be 11, you just notice that I think I dont why you get that freeze by changing the multiplier, maybe you mb doesnt like the mobile mod? |
